Notes to various people

Youtube : Thankyou for finally fixing shuffle on playlists. (Not 100% kid-friendly, just click through very fast if a song about truckers comes on ^^)

Whoever invited BBCode : Great, thanks, now I’m so used typing out all links instead of pressing the button WordPress wants me to press that it’s really distracting.

Whoever said the new chicken coop could house 5 chickens : You liar. It’ll hold three at most, but it was nice and easy to put together!

My finger is doing a really irritating thing where it keeps locking and crunching. *relearns to type without it* Tera says my touch-typing is weird anyway. I guess because I taught myself and I have kinda big hands.

Took the dogs to the park today. Lost the ball within 5 minutes, Emmy walked over a whole pile of broken glass then complained her foot hurt. It was still going ok though until we got near the exit, two girls started petting the pups and Sohpie shook herself all over one of them (it was raining and she was also muddy) the girl roared at her and Sophie ran away. Right out of the park.

I walked the other three home, resigned to being yelled at and having to spend the rest of the day searching.

Stupid dog had run all the way home, scratched at the door to be let in and jumped into mum’s arms. xD We’re only like 10 doors down form the park, but still. She knows where she lives!

We really do need to get them chipped.

Mum’s sister Fran died a week or so ago. We sent flowers but can’t get to the funeral… It’d been coming for a long time, but yeah…

Strike the Earth!

The second Dwarves book arrived this morning, just got done reading the first one through again. Trying to save the second one, otherwise I’ll read the whole thing in one sitting like I always do… Maybe I should only allow myself to read it after fulfilling useful tasks. ONE BLOG POST HERE I COME.

We took the dogs to the park today but didn’t do much else that I can remember… Emmy has lost all recall what-so-ever but she doesn’t dissappear off into the distance if you let her off the lead, she just doesn’t let herself get caught, so we let her and Sophie off today. I guess the next thing I need to do is mow the lawn, and I’m not entirely sure what to do about the front gate, can’t put the old one back on because it pretty much fell apart when I took the hinges off. (For future reference, they’re Strap Hinges, that took me quite a long time to find out) if I could get wood and a new saw I could make one a gate that fits properly. wtb motivation 1g /w me. I tried digging the front garden before realising I had absolutely no idea wtf I was supposed to be doing. Anyone got any good gardening resources to share?

Oh yeah, I was cleaning out the hamsters, and one of them escaped the cage, (I was trying to move him from one cage to another) jumped down onto the table, and then jumped off that table…

Plummeting 1 story over the banister and down the stairs.

He landed badly, but let me grab him before the dog ate him, after that jump he didn’t even want to jump down one stair, he peered over the edge and then backed away. But when I picked him up he made a noise and when I put him in the cage he was walking funny like he’d dislocated something… Sort of bent in the middle and dragging one leg. He seems a bit better now and has been eating/drinking, but if he’s still being odd in the morning I’ll take him to the vets… I know it’s only a hamster but I feel guilty and I don’t want him to be hurt. ._. Plus this vet is a lot cheaper than the one in Manchester.

I guess the last thing is I’m pretty much done with the antibiotics. God they taste horrible. Swelling is gone now and I should be going in for xrays tomorrow. I really am gonna try and get to Manchester to get it fixed, I really, really don’t want it out but we can’t afford to have it fixed privately, if it’s still even possible. Travelling makes me panic but if I plan enough I guess I should be ok. NationalRail says it should only be 20~ minutes on the train, but I’ve still gotta get to the place after that, and plan for delays I guess. They whine when you’re late.

Day… Something

Overslept this morning. Fucking pissed at myself for that. -_- I set my alarm well loud, when I woke up, it was carefully turned off. Here, click the link. I think I’ll set my webcam to record, just to see wtf I do, if I’m actually awake and I just don’t remember it, or what… It requires getting out of bed, walking over here, and messing with the selotape over the volume knob on the speakers. I need more tape I think…

Gonna rearrange my room tonight I think. Guess I’ll get started on that once I’m done with this.

Took Sophie to the vet, in a week she can be taken for walks! Think Bella is off heat now too and all the dogs are fully wormed as of today. Wormer needs to be once a month for the pups and once every 3 months for the big dogs. I wonder if you have to cycle through the different brands like you do with horses…  Probably not. I also need to drop the vaccination card in at the vets some time because I forgot to take it with me today.

The vet here is cheap! £27 for 6 wormer tablets and Sophies shots today, the time we took Sophie for a checkup on her chest, they only charged us for the wormer, £1.27 or something in total. Never would have gotten that in Manchester, they practically charged you £25 just to walk through the door there. Normally no more than a 10-15 min wait here either.

I do miss Manchester sometimes though.

I went to the co-op earlier to get some stuff for dinner, and I saw 7 houses all with Christmas decorations up. Like, the full blown flashing lights and Christmas trees. They get started early around here… Pretty though, I like walking in the dark and seeing all the houses warm and lit up with decorations.

There was one house that was really pretty, I wanted to take a picture of it.  Maybe I’ll take my camera with me the next time I go out. They’d gone all out on the lights and tinsel and had a big Christmas tree in the corner, but it was still fairly tasteful, no inflatable santas or whatever.

For dinner I made a sort of selection-plate-thing, carrot sticks and celery and tomatoes and squares of cheese, and other things I don’t remember, with dips. It was nice, I’m really not in the mood for meat at the moment…

muu

Didn’t get to go out today after all… Mum wasn’t feeling well enough. She has good days and bad days. :/ It didn’t seem worth going on my own, so I made some pancakes instead. I’d have made a sponge cake too but we’re out of flour. I want a proper one, with lots of vanilla, and jam and wipped cream. Since we were out of flour, I used batter mix for the pancakes, but I wasn’t impressed, I think I’ll stick to my awesome american-pancake-mix recipe next time.

So yeah, I ended up just playing more Dragon Age today, according to the character sheet I’m 14% of the way through or something. It’s a lot of fun, I put my warrior to one side earlier and made a mage, it’s interesting to see everything again from a different point of view, my first character was a nice friendly dwarf warrior, second character is an elf mage with a chip on her shoulder. They put such an amazing amount of work into this game, the voice acting alone…

I washed both puppies yesterday, it’s funny how they both have such different personalities. Emmy sat down on the bottom of the shower, put her face in the water and enjoyed the whole thing. Sophie  on the other hand, kept trying to run away, shook a lot and cried exactly like a baby. The whole time I was washing Sophie, Emmy kept trying to drink the water. I went back in there an hour or so later for something and Emmy followed me, sat down in the shower and barked, like she wanted me to do it again.

After I’d washed them and was having a quick shower myself, Sophie stood around and cried and shivered and looked generally miserable, while Emmy spotted the towel, dragged it onto the floor and then proceeded to roll around on it… Apparently Shih’Tzus are supposed to be untrainable, but I don’t think we’re gonna have any trouble with her! Sophie on the other hand…

Yet I never give correct change…

For a long while, I collected all the change I got from everything, get home, put the change in the pig, ignore it. I was gonna save it up and buy something nice with it, but that never really happened.

I remember taking £25 out of it to get my nose pierced, all in pound coins. The guy in the bank was most impressed when I went to get it changed into notes. The pig also provided us with a few Chinese meals too and that’s probably why I only found two pound coins and a few 50ps in there when I was sorting it. There was an interesting article I read once about how genetics work on the same principle as a bowl of change, the rubbish but mostly harmless traits, the 1 and 2ps sink to the bottom of the bowl and are pretty much ignored, and all the good traits, the silver coins and better, get picked out over time. Sometimes you’ll go for something and find out it’s a washer or a key you don’t recognise, and that gets chucked in the bin. I think it might’ve been a speech by Dawkins, but I don’t really remember and the quick Google search I just did didn’t return anything.

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to collect that much change again. I know the coinstar machine is gonna take a huge cut of it, but I really can’t be arsed to bag it all and deal with the people at the bank. Maybe the 20ps and up, but the rest can all just go into the machine.

You can click that for bigger. Took me an hour to just sort it that much.

Then afterwards, I went downstairs to wash my hands, and I found more!

As for pets… Four dogs (The two pups, and the two other dogs, who’re both around 8 now), the two hamsters and a cat (who’s getting on for 15)

I did have another hamster that I’d rescued off a stupid relative, but it died of old age a few weeks ago. Oh and there was another the dog ate, but we don’t talk about that. Stupid aunt… We went round to her house for something and I noticed her hamster had no water, at which point she said “Oh I haven’t seen it in a week, it’s probably dead.” the cage was practically lined with food, and she never cleaned it out. I think she just threw in a massive handful of food every time she passed and totally ignored it otherwise. It wasn’t dead, anyway, and I took it home and mothered it until it did eventually pass away.

She’s the same relative who had to surrender her rabbit because it got flystrike, and who’s guinea pig got an abscess the size of your hand on it’s back, which nobody noticed until my special-needs brother went round there to clean it out for her. Her cat died of kidney failure a month or so ago too, so she’s just gotten herself a new kitten… We’ll see how that goes. Grandma’s also been looking after her kid since she refuses to look after him herself, and the stress of that is most likely the reason she had the stroke…

In other news, I pre-ordered Dragon Age and downloaded the L4D2 demo, gonna wait for Christmas for the full thing though. I’ve not been out the house in a while as it’s done nothing but rain for the past week. Maybe I’ll go beg some coin bags from the bank if the weather’s better tomorrow.

Yawn

The latest XKCD, I want that as a poster. My migraines haven’t come back, and grandma should be out of hospital by the end of the week. She might not be, though… Everything sucks…

Puppies.

And star-struck he goes drowning

Didn’t take the dogs to the park yesterday, the vets appointment was at 4pm, and mum wanted to go shopping a bit, (leaving me to wait outside and take random questions from every child and middle aged woman within a mile) so it was dark by the time we got home. We did take them out today and I did manage to take pictures, so I’ll upload those in a bit. The vet says Sophie sounds much better, her heart is fine and there’s only a tiny bit of noise left in her lungs. She’ll get her first set of jabs next monday, she could have had them this week but the vet thought it’d be safer to wait until she was fully recovered.

So, Geocities is gone. I guess I feel that deserves a mention, I remember spending a few hours sitting in the UNoT chat setting up my first site and talking to everyone as I did it. It was good fun. When I heard they were going down, I made sure to back all my little sites up, although I’d forgotten how annoying the geocities bandwidth limit was. On a vaguely related note, I think I’ll see about getting myself a 1tb~ harddrive for Christmas, this 100gb thing really isn’t cutting it anymore. It forces me to not horde stuff, which is nice, but it’s starting to get full with just games.

I feel bad when anyone asks me what I want for Christmas as all I can think of is computer hardware, which is something nobody would want to buy me. New HD (or two :p) new graphics card. Maybe something so I can use my monitor as a telly, even if just for consoles. It’s bigger than most tellys, so seems a waste of space to buy a proper TV. Getting this monitor for my birthday was a good buy, even if the sheer size of it freaked me out at first.

I Suppose while I’m at it, I should work out how to connect mums PC to the telly, we’ve got this massive TV and we end up watching stuff on her tiny monitor, right next to it. (Teraaa :p)

– Koco then wanders off for half an hour, and gives the puppy a shower –

She’s going absolutely nuts now, running in circles and grabbing things and throwing them in the air and doing backflips and shit, barking at random objects. Guess I’ll go entertain her before she destroys the whole room.

(This is quite fun)

(“And all the jolly horses love and burn”, and the title line are the best two I’ve gotten)

Fail title

Woke up blind again yesterday, it went away pretty fast with painkillers though it’s still annoying. Gonna go for an eye test some time this week, get new glasses and actually start wearing them. I think my eye is getting worse and it’s starting to give me trouble focusing, which is probably causing the migraines.

Took the two dogs and Emmy to the park again, again managed to forget to take my camera. Maybe I’ll have time later, but the days are starting to get shorter now and not sure how long the vet is gonna take.

On another note, I love winter.

I like the cold weather and short days, walking somewhere and it’s half dark, and seeing all the lights on in windows. You can always warm up in winter, but it’s so difficult to cool down in summer. I’m sure I’d be of a different opinion if I lived on the street or I had no money to pay heating, or I lived somewhere it actually snowed, but for now, it’s awesome. I’ve realised that I prefer to walk the dogs in the winter too, the moment the weather turned, I started thinking about taking them out again, something I really couldn’t be bothered to do in the summer.

I bought a pumpkin to carve for halloween, chibi suggested this but I think the pumpkin might be a bit small. We’ll see!
