First of May!

First of May, first of May, outdoor… Ahem, right.

Nothing much happened recently. Emmy’s finally no longer on heat, but Bella is. She was 10 in March, how can she still manage it! She’s being a right pain with it anyway, I hope that when she’s gone, none of the other dogs come on, because I would like to be able to take them for a walk some time this summer.

I found a dip-pen downstairs and a little bottle of ink, (Sheaffer Peacock Blue, it’s a pretty colour) the nib is rusty, but it writes ok, and the pen is glass, so I might buy a couple more nibs for it.  Have had a couple of days fun playing with it anyway.

Think I’ve almost finished the Vatta’s War set (What’s published, anyway) ordered the last one earlier, I guess once I’m done with that I’ll have to see what else she’s written. I really need a new bookcase in here…

Been trying to spend more time downstairs, if I don’t it basically becomes somewhere to walk through, and only the dogs do anything down there. Set up the computer on the big telly and stuff, ordered a game controller and then spent two days trying to find drivers for it. (These are the only ones that worked, original xbox controller and Windows 7) XBCD was useless. At leas the xbox to USB cable I spliced together a while ago works. (I previously got a controller for £1 at a carboot but it was broken)

Ragnarok Online is now free, I downloaded it and took a look around… It was depressing, nobody I knew was still there that I could see (Just checked again, nothin) I don’t know what I was expecting, nothing really I guess. In my head it’s like he’s not really dead, he’s just gonna log on and be like, “hi, sorry I wasn’t around” or something. I know it’s stupid. I miss him every day…

-_-

Made some biscuits earlier, they’re not bad. Lent’s over, I can eat chcolate again I guess, not that I was doing it for lent but it was around the same time. I had some hot chocolate and white-chocolate biscuits, but I think I’m gonna keep not eating it, it just annoys me. Terence bought me some beeswax banana hand-cream (not what I’d normally go for but it is nice) and a box of chocolate seashells for my birthday, and we’re working on getting a greenhouse.

Things are ok!

Lots of things today

Could be interesting. I don’t think I have a favorite song, it changes depending on my mood, but I guess at the moment these two are vying for top spot: The Butthole Surfers: Pepper and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds: Today’s Lesson.

I tidied up the garden today, dug over the two beds, picked up the plastic greenhouse from where the winds a few weeks ago had left it. Spent about two hours on it I guess, it looks better now. The apple tree has buds on! While I was digging the two beds Emmy decided to help, she started off by digging with me, but then ended up just rolling in it. I had to hose her down before I could even take her into the house to shower her. When the plastic greenhouse fell over it left mud everywhere, to the point you could probably grow plants on the patio without pots, so I hosed all that away into the beds and Emmy helped there too by drinking it and rolling in the mush whenever she got the chance.

Sophie stood in the kitchen and barked.

It was frosty this morning, all the water was frozen and there was about a 10ft visibility due to heavy fog, but by the time I got home a couple of hours later I could work in the garden without a coat on, it’s improving fast!

Been playing the SpaceChem demo today and watching s05 of Dexter, went into college but only had one lesson, CAD, which is pretty fun. Got to play with PLCs on Tuesday, making lights go on and off and stuff, fun fun. I wouldn’t mind doing more of that. Ink cartridges arrived so I can use my fountain pen again! I think when these run out I might move onto bottled ink but we’ll see. Apparently they’ve discontinued making that pen, shame, I was considering buying another one.

I finished the Kethani book Kirrus sent me, not bad although I kept waiting for a twist or revelation that never appeared. (Which I suppose is a twist in itself)  it says at the end they were mostly short stories published at different times, and that makes it make a bit more sense. I liked it.

Also finished Oath of Gold (Thankyou :D) it got more interesting towards the end even if it did make me a bit uncomfortable reading it on the bus, considering buying the next one and I will read more of her stuff.

I never did finish the second Dwarves book, I think that’s up next.

Arglgrawggg

I dunno, that was just a random amalgamation of sounds.

Stuff has been ok! College is getting there, I baked the most amazing awesome cake twice and would bake a third if we weren’t out of Cranberries. Mine didn’t sink in the middle either. Granddad ate at least three slices. I will make that again, and I will make more stuff with that flaked almond topping, it would probably go well with Blueberries.

I dropped my shiny pen and it got scratched down one side. I was stupid and put it in my trouser pocket instead of my coat, and stupid pocket had a hole in it and it fell out and some old man stood on it. But it still works so it’s ok! At least I noticed it’d fallen out.

New chicken is settling in fine. We got four eggs today! So they’re all laying for once. That’s pretty awesome. I think the neigbours are going to start getting gifts of eggs soon.

The weather has been improving, went to a carboot with Granddad today but there was only six stalls, I guess because it rained yesterday and it’s been very windy. It’s been raining more but it’s not half as cold as it was, I’m glad. Gonna wire around the two slightly raised beds in the garden so that the chickens can’t trample them, and cut back the rose bush which suddenly grew to 12ft high last year for no disernable reason. I guess it liked me digging up the ground or something, because there’d been no sign of it before and it was a sort of wild-rose flower that it produced instead of the normal flowers. The bushes themselves are probably as old as the house which is pretty interesting.

Not entirely to scale

Gonna put the greenhouse next to the shed and move the chicken house. Could put a little fence and a gate at the bottom of the beds but then the dogs would be stuck in the little patio bit. The two trees are still only about 3ft tall.

RUST! NEGLECT!

Not doing my homework!

Guinea pig is coming along ok. I also spent 10 minutes making a pin cushion to hold the needles I’m not using. It wasn’t supposed to be ridiculously cute! It was just red and cream and then suddenly it wanted eyes and a mouth! I’m starting to build up a collection of Porings…

(Those’re the felting needles stuck in it)

Paid for a month of hero on die2nite, it was around £10, well expensive, more expensive than a month of WoW even, but I’ve put a lot of time into it so it’s nice to give something back. I doubt I’ll buy a second month at that price though.

I managed to explode a fountain pen cartridge all over myself the other day, that was interesting. Pen I got is lovely, makes me happy every time I write with it, but due to buying the wrong thing, I only have one cartridge that fits it and a load that don’t fit anything so I have to transfer the ink with a syringe. At least they’re the same size, I think when these run out I might just buy a bottle of ink instead, at least it’ll be harder for me to explode that.

Got another guy asking about the Strawberry Magic game. I think brother’s got it at the moment.

Thorax has taken to crowing loudly, but I really like having him around. Three of the dogs went for him the other day and he not only stood up to them, he won! They’re shit-scared of him now. I hope he learns to stfu though, I really don’t want to have to get rid of him… He’s so big and heavy that he’d be on somebody’s plate before you could say “shut the hell up you stupid chicken”

CHRISTMAS EVE!

*foams*

*foams*

Grandma and Granddad gave me some money for going to college (I’m not complaining) so I bought myself a new fountain pen! Whee, hopefully it’ll arrive, and soon! JetPens is just too pretty, and they keep sending me newsletters. Bought a rubber and some cartridges too while I was there but I was restrained!

I can’t write with normal pens, my writing goes horrible after a bit and my arm cramps up.

Took Sophie to the groomers today and got all her fur lopped off. Henrietta may have missed an egg too. Put up a curtain rail but can’t attach the curtain to it yet as we’ve got no hooks or something (Curtains are complicated)

Goin bed anyway, it’s hard to type when the dog is sitting on your lap and licking your hand.
